As you move away from the famous seaside resorts of the Côte d’Argent towards the Landes countryside, there are many surprises in store for visitors in search of cultural discoveries. So it’s hardly surprising to find a host of museums, castles and remarkable religious buildings along the way.
Landes museums
A must-see in the Landes region, theMarquèze Ecomuseum, less than an hour from the Eurosol campsite, will immerse you in the heritage and traditions of the Landes region.
When you visit Biscarrosse, three museums – the Musée de l’Hydraviation, the Musée des Traditions et de l’Histoire and the Surf Museum – open their doors to give you a better understanding of local culture and history.
Heading towards the south of the Landes, in Dax, three other sites suitable for family visits will appeal to young and old alike:
- The Borda Museum and its archaeological crypt
- La Maison et ArchéoParc de la Dame de Brassempouy (40 minutes from Dax)
Two other inland museums will delight art lovers: the Musée de la Faïence et des Arts de la Table (in Samadet) and the Musée Despiau-Wlérick dedicated to sculpture in Mont-de-Marsan.
Castles in the Landes
The region is home to a number of châteaux that are of great interest for their architectural and historical value, as well as for the armagnac they produce.

- Château de Caumale (1 hour from Mont-de-Marsan)

Unusual visits in the Landes
There are some twenty chapels scattered throughout the Landes region. Among them, two unusual chapels stand out from the rest, firstly because of their names, which make you smile, but also because they are evocative of south-western culture. Sports fans and the more curious can visit the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Cyclistes or the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Rugby (located 30 minutes from Mont-de-Marsan).
